Blended With

Lavandin Super Essential Oil

A relatively unknown oil until the 20th Century as it is a hybrid of true lavender and spike lavender.  However, it is believed to be neuro-tonic, which is used to reduce nervous debility, listlessness and nervous tension

Lavandin is anti-catarrhal (countering or suppressing phlegm), antifungal, antiviral, expectorant (helps remove phlegm and catarrh), neurotonic (a tonic for the mind) and sedative. It is useful for asthma inflammation and pain, most commonly used for bronchitis, candida, athlete’s foot, chronic migraine and enteritis. Mentally, it can be used for nervous debility, listlessness and post-surgery stress.

Cornmint Essential Oil

Cornmint like peppermint has been used in traditional folk medicine to relieve nervous headaches through the application of bruised leaves to the forehead. This action may be due to Cornmint’s menthol content of around 56.7-80.2%. Menthol is an analgesic, reduces pain by acting on opioid receptors in the brain to decrease pain signals.

Basil ct Linalool Essential Oil

Basil ct Linalool has been used for the relief of headaches by rubbing the leaves over the forehead and temples in traditional herbal remedies, suggesting an analgesic effect. Furthermore, the dried leaves have been ground and used as a snuff for achieving mental clarity.

Widely used in Ayurvedic medicine for bronchitis, coughs, colds, asthma flu and emphysema.  It has also been used against epidemics and fever such as malaria. In the West, used for arthritis and irritable skin.

Sweet basil is a general tonic for the whole body. In particular, it is used because it is antispasmodic (relieves muscle spasms), antiseptic, antiviral, carminative (easing colic and flatulence), a nervous system regulator and a decongestant (helps diminish blockage, i.e. to the lymph system). This means that it is useful against gout, muscle spasms, gastro-enteritis, sluggish digestion, ulcers, hypotension, anxiety and stress, as well as congestion in the breast and dry eczema.

These properties also make the oil a good choice for the respiratory system and Basil essential oil is an ingredient in several cough syrups and expectorants (thins and loosens mucus). The oil provides relief from bronchitis, influenza and asthma, while chewing its leaves relieves cold. To ease a sore throat add basil leaves to warm water and gurgle.

Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

Roman Chamomile has relaxing properties that may aid in reducing nervous tension that can be associated with headaches and migraines. It is often used as a relaxant to calm frayed nerves

Massages of Roman chamomile for 20 minutes, 3 times a week were reported to significantly improve self-esteem and decrease the anxiety of cancer patients (Srivastava, Shankar and Gupta, 2010), supporting its use as a relaxant. Roman chamomile is reportedly spasmolytic, with numerous studies providing evidence for this property.

Method Of Use
How to Use

Essential oils are highly concentrated and should be used with care. The guidance below is a helpful starting point, but we recommend consulting a qualified aromatherapist for personalised advice. Need help? Call us on 01455 251020 or email [email protected]; we’re happy to help.

Inhalation
Undiluted essential oils may be inhaled from a tissue or a pillow (4-6 drops). Alternatively, they can be inhaled from a bowl of hot water (3 or 4 drops) or a diffuser (see table below), but avoid this if asthmatic. Never inhale essential oils directly from the bottle.

Shampoo and Bath Foam
Create unique aromatherapy bath foams or shampoos by mixing up to 30 drops of your own essential oil blend into 100ml of a suitable bath foam base or shampoo base.

Skincare Cream
Essential oils can be added to vegetable-based creams and then developed into facial products or topical creams. Do not add more than 15 drops of essential oil to 50ml of your base cream.

Pregnancy
Essential oils are best avoided during the first months of pregnancy. After the third month, many oils can be used safely and effectively. If in doubt, always consult a qualified aromatherapist. Find out more in our blog, Aromatherapy & Pregnancy
