Copaiba Balsam is a pale yellow or greenish mobile oil with a mild, sweet, balsamic-peppery odour.
Wild-growing tropical trees, growing up to 18 meters high, with thick foliage and many branches. Native to the North. east, central and South America as well as Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam and Columbia. There are many species of Copaifera that yield oleoresin - the Venezuelan type has a lower oil content whilst the Brazillian type has a high oil content. Oleoresin is used in many pharmaceutical products such as cough medicines and is also used as a fixative fragrance component.
