Camphor White essential oil is distilled from the wood, root stumps and branches, White camphor has a sharp pungent aroma. Having three types of oil Camphor White essential oil is the lightest and is a colourless to pale yellow liquid with a sharp pungent camphoraceous odour, brown is the middle fraction and yellow - a blue-green yellow liquid is the heaviest.
The plant is evergreen and is not unlike the linden, producing a white crystalline substance, the crude camphor, from the wood of mature trees over 50 years old. There are many different species of Camphor, the ho-sho variety produces ho wood oil, and the Chinese variety produces Apopin oil.
