Your Daily Skincare Routine

Of course, we all know a quick and balanced daily skincare routine is a good idea. But, with so many lotions, creams, and tips out there, it’s hard to know where to start! Plus, time is of the essence - no one wants to spend hours in front of the bathroom mirror. So, here’s some advice for you lovely people out there on why we should use certain products every day, why some are indispensable, some are not, and why we only use some twice a week! Your skin needs to feel fresh and clean and moisturised in the morning, and fed and watered each night, ready for a good night’s sleep! 

Our routine at Penny Price Aromatherapy should take 3 minutes maximum, and we will tell you all you need to know about your skincare basics, explaining our products and how to use them on the way

Firstly, a little word on our lovely natural skincare range.

Step 1: Cleanse

Make cleansing step one of an Illuminous Skincare routine

Even if a few, short minutes is all you’ve got, freshly cleansed skin twice a day is a good place to start your routine (both morning and evening). A good cleanser will rid your skin of dirt, make-up and impurities without leaving your skin feeling tight or dry. A good cleanser also prepares your skin for the next skincare step, meaning products used after a good cleanse will work more effectively. Penny Price Aromatherapy make 2 cleansers, a light one for the morning to uplift and start the day, and a richer one for the evening, to remove make up and feed the skin.

Morning Fresh Pure Cleanse

This is a light, creamy lotion that purifies and cleanses the skin deeply yet gently, removing any traces of makeup and impurities.

How to use:

Use 2 or 3 pumps of product into dampened hands, and apply over face, neck and around eyes, massaging into the skin. Rinse with water or a damp flannel/facial sponge to purify skin.  

For best results use every morning before applying moisturiser for an illuminous day

Night Perfection Pure Cleanse

This is a very rich cleansing cream that gently removes all traces of make-up, lifts impurities and leaves the skin feeling soft and clean without dryness.

How to use:

Apply about half a teaspoonful into the palms of the hands, rub together and spread over face, neck and around eyes, massaging into the skin. Rinse with water or a damp flannel/facial sponge to purify skin.  

For best results use every evening before sleeping to wake up to an illuminous day.

Recommended For:Removing heavy make-up, suitable all skin types, but particularly very dry skin. 

OK, we now have the cleansing part done! I hope you noticed that I use a warm, wet flannel to remove the cleanser. This is for two reasons; the flannel is better for your skin than cotton wool and it is definitely better at removing the dirt and grime, as well as any dead skin cells, and, it also helps increase the circulation to the skin, giving an oxygen boost and a rosy glow.

Step 2: Tone

To tone or not to tone? This is sometimes considered unnecessary, but I always do it! The toner needs to be astringent to close the pores a little (not altogether), but not contain any alcohol, which is very drying to the skin.

Refresh and Revive Toner

Fresh Eau de Rose is infused with sweet Neroli Flower Oil to refine and minimalise pores.  Skin will feel hydrated, soothed and fresh. Suitable for all skin types

How to use:

Use 2 pumps of Refresh and Revive toner into the palm of one hand. Reb palms together and then press the toner into the skin using your palms in a pressing action. Our lovely toner can also be applied by damping gauze and leaving on the face for a few minutes if you have time, to reduce redness and thread veins for an illuminous glow

Recommended For:Reducing pores, firming the skin, suitable for all skin types. 

Step 3: Serum & Booster

If you have a few moments spare, here is where you would apply a radiance booster or serum, just to give that little extra hit of active ingredients and skin food.

Perfectly Smooth Eye Serum

A lightweight formula, rich in moisturisers, peptides and natural essential oils of Fennel Seed, Geranium and Patchouli to help reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness around the eyes.

Apply a small amount to your eyelids and around your eyes after completing your cleanse and tone. Leave to fully absorb for several minutes to enrich the delicate eye tissues before applying moisturiser to your Illuminous skin.

Recommended For:Crêpe, flaky skin around the eyes and for dark circles, to deeply moisturise and protect. 

Radiance Boost Rose Facial Oil

The exotic blend of Rose Flower Oil with Rosehip Oil, Wheat Germ Oil and Mexican Poppy extract brings deep moisturisation and radiance, while being antioxidant and protective for dry skin

Daytime Plump Neroli Facial Oil

Step 4: Moisturise

If you are in a desperate rush, this is the one stage you can never afford to miss! In these days of blue light pollution, car fumes, dirty air etc. your moisturiser should help protect you skin from damage. It only takes a couple of minutes so do it! Moisturising is the super-important finisher in any daily skincare routine, it will help protect your skin from losing moisture (keeping it feeling supple and plump!). We suggest you warm up our moisturiser by rubbing the fingertips together before applying – it smooths on and is absorbed so well!

Bright and Radiant Moisture Milk

Radiance-boosting rose water, Golden Kelp and Vitamin E come together to impart even skin tone, radiance and intense moisturisation. As this is a lotion it is really light and great for younger skin.

Step 5: Mask & prime

I know that this is not quite part of your daily routing, but masks and primers are great if you can spare the time, and your skin will thank you for it.
