This Oil is produced from both the Siam and Sumatra types or a mix of the two. It is orange to brown in viscous mass with an intensely sweet rich balsamic odour.

Java, Sumatra and Thailand give us this tree. Triangular wounds are cut into the bark from which the sap exudes. It does not occur naturally. The greyish brown resinous lump is pressed into a solid mass and is not strictly an essential oil more a resin. It is melted by heating over water before it can be used.
