Essential Oils for Chakras

For our Part 4 on Aromatherapy and the Chakras we are going to talk about each Chakra and Essential Oils, Massage Blends and Hydrolats can help with balancing the Chakras. We will discuss why they can be beneficial and helpful in relation to each Chakra, how to blend and use the ingredients shown here.


RootThe Root Chakra
Location
: Located at the base of the spine
Colour: Red
Essential purpose: Grounding, security, physical needs
Associated parts of the body: Adrenals, kidneys, blood and circulation, the base of spine, bones, colon, immune system.


Root Chakra – the energy of which is based on earth elements. It is associated with feeling safe and grounded. This is at the base of the Chakra system and lays the foundation for expansion in your life. When the Chakra is imbalanced, it can cause excessive negativity, cynicism and feelings of insecurity.

One product of ours that can help unblock this Chakra is ‘Nurture Courage Essential Oil, it is designed to help increase confidence and courage without aggression and should be inhaled regularly for a spiritually strengthening effect. Alternatively, you can add 4-8 drops in a vapouriser or diffuser – Etsa Aroma Diffuser  Zenbow DiffuserNurture Courage Essential Oil. Nurture Courage contains LavandinMelissaCornmint and Basil Essential Oils.

Lavandin Super – This oil is cleansing, balancing and grounding.
Melissa – Extremely grounding, gives courage and insight.
Cornmint – Gives the and clarity to help with decision making.
Basil – Stimulating, grounding and courage giving.

We also recommend Hydrolats – Hydrolats are aromatic waters from the distillation of essential oils. They can be used directly as a spray onto the body or by putting 50ml into the bath. We recommend:

Rosemary Hydrolat – Helps with fatigue, aches and pains.
Clary Sage Hydrolat – Helps balance hormones and with self-confidence.

You can also make up your own massage blend using the Essential Oils mentioned above, try using this blend:

50ml Almond Carrier Oil 
5 Drops Lavandin Super
5 Drops Melissa 
5 Drops Cornmint

The Sacral Chakra
Location: The sacral chakra is located midway between the pubic bone and the navel.
Colour: Orange
Essential purpose: Relationships
Associated parts of the body: Reproductive system, ovaries and testis, large intestine, pelvis


The Sacral Chakra commonly associated with emotion, sensuality and creativity. Its element is water-based and is characterised by flow & flexibility. When this Chakra is imbalanced it can cause dependency, feeling numb and feeling stuck in a particular mood. An ingredient known to help unblock this Chakra is Primrose, as it can help with balancing hormones and bringing comfort.

Our Nurture Blended Essential Oils – Circulation and Vitality are recommended for the Sacral Chakra. Nurture Circulation helps to invigorate and cleanse the body whilst Nurture Vitality is specially formulated to revive, stimulate and invigorate. You can add 4-8 drops in a vapouriser or diffuser – Etsa Aroma Diffuser  Zenbow Diffuser

These products contain a blend of essential oils that will help balance the Sacral Chakra.
Black Pepper – Uplifting and anti-depressive
Cypress – Cleansing, fortifying and helps creativity
Orange Sweet – Hormonal balance, digestive, liver tonic and helps with creativity
Lavender True – Cleansing and balancing to hormones
Lemon – Helps with mental clarity

Solar Plexus The Solar Plexus Chakra
Location: The Solar Plexus Chakra is located underneath the diaphragm
Colour: Yellow
Essential purpose: To be oneself
Associated parts of the body: Pancreas, stomach, liver, gall bladder, nervous system


The Solar Plexus Chakra element is fire-based and is characterised by the connection with the sun, heat, the energy of light and all forms of power. When this Chakra is imbalanced it can cause clarity of judgements, insecurity, problems with self-esteem and knocked confidence.

One product that can help bring balance to the Solar Chakra is our Nurture Joy Essential Oil, it is a beautiful, uplifting blend to bring joy to the heart and soul.  The blend can help to uplift and bring peace if used on a daily basis. You can add 4-8 drops in a vapouriser or diffuser – Etsa Aroma Diffuser  Zenbow Diffuser

Heart The Heart Chakra
Location: The heart chakra is located on the right side of the chest
Colour: Green
Essential purpose: Love, self-love and love of humanity (not ego love)
Associated parts of the body: Thymus gland, heart, blood, circulatory system, arm and hands


The fourth Chakra is the Heart, which is obviously located in the centre of your chest. This is related to the air element. For its energy is associated with breath, movements and the idea of spaciousness. When there’s a blockage within your heart chakra, it can cause feelings of excessive jealousy, codependency, or being withdrawn. However, when this is unblocked it can help with balance, love, compassion, awareness and transformation.

One ingredient that can help to unblock your Heart Chakra is Jasmine. This is due to the calming and warming effect it can bring. Our Nurture Love Blended Essential Oil is just what you need, with, Rosewood, Ylang–Ylang, Jasmine and Lavandin Essential Oils. You can add 4-8 drops of Nurture Love in a vapouriser or diffuser – Etsa Aroma Diffuser  Zenbow Diffuser

The Throat Chakra
Location: The throat chakra is located in the middle of the throat
Colour: Light Blue – Turquoise
Essential purpose: Communication
Associated parts of the body: Thyroid, bronchial apparatus, lungs, throat, mouth, tongue, vocal cords


The function of the Throat Chakra is driven by the principle of expression and communication. When the Throat Chakra is unbalanced it can cause excessive fear of speaking, telling lies and lack of control over one’s speech. However, when this is unblocked it can help with expression and communication. One ingredient that can help to unblock your Throat Chakra is Frankincense, as it can help to give you courage and vision and Eucalyptus Smithii which can clear the throat and airways to help with meditative breathing.

You can add 4-8 drops of Nurture Breathing in a vapouriser or diffuser – Etsa Aroma Diffuser  Zenbow Diffuser. Eucalyptus Smithii is a key ingredient for our Nurture Breathing Essential Oil which is perfect in helping the Throat Chakra by helping clear and stimulate. Nurture Breathing contains:

The Third Eye Chakra
Location: The brow chakra is located in the centre of the forehead
Colour: Deep Blue
Essential purpose: Inner vision
Associated parts of the body: Pituitary gland, lower brain, nervous system, ears, left eye, nose


 The Third Eye Chakra which is the sixth Chakra. The function of this is driven by the principle of openness, imagination and it related to the “supreme element”. When the Third Eye is unbalanced it can cause rejection of everything spiritual and lack of clarity. However, when this is unblocked it can help with intuition, connection to wisdom, inspiration & clarity.

One ingredient that can help to unblock your Third Eye Chakra is Eucalyptus Staigeriana, for it is beneficial in increasing vitality & lifting spirits. Eucalyptus Staigeriana is a key ingredient in our blended Essential Oil Nurture Spirituality which contains Frankincense, Cedarwood, Patchouli and Eucalyptus. The Crown Chakra
Location: The crown chakra is located at the top of the head
Colour: Violet
Essential purpose: Connect to and being at one with the universe
Associated parts of the body: Pineal gland, upper brain, right eye.


Located at the top of your head the Crown Chakra is driven by consciousness and associates with psychological and behavioural characteristics such as presence, liberation and awareness. However, when unbalanced, it can cause feelings of disconnection and cynicism. One ingredient that can help to soothe the Crown Chakra is Rosemary, as it is stimulating and helps to fight fatigue. Rosemary is a key ingredient in our blended Nurture Meditation Essential Oil
