The flowers have been used traditionally in teas for diuretic, sudorific and emollient purposes and it was believed that the seeds and leaves could help to promote the milk supply in nursing mothers. Borage is also known for its external antifalmatory properties. John Evelyn in the 17th Centuary said that borage would 'cheer the melancholic, brighten the pessimist, and generally to make men merry and bring comfort
' Borage needs to be kept in a cool dry place and has a short shelf life of 18 months to two years. | | |
