Coconut is a fractionated oil (but not a complete oil as this would be solid with a melting point of about 25°C) and has a low viscosity which solidifies at 0°C. As it lathers easily it is used in the making of white soaps. It is used in treatments of massage creams due to its emollient properties and also as a hair pomade as it is good for dry hair types and the tropical races who anoint their hair with this from childhood rarely go bold or have grey hair. Coconut will keep for 2 years in a cool, dark place. | | |
