LDCA - Module 1
These in-depth courses are designed to give qualified aromatherapists further insight into essential oils and their use in a healthcare setting. The courses present a fresh approach to the study of the effects of essential oils on the body and mind, which will allow the participant an increasingly comprehensive understanding of the essential oils and their pharmacological and therapeutic effects on clients/patients. Full body massage is recognised as a separate discipline and is not taught on this course.
Module 1 comprises:
3 days of intensive training and uses of essential oils in clinical situations
The course includes much materia medica, where essential oils are pin-pointed by their chemical components in order to help treat various specific conditions. Safety in practice is explored with different methods of application of essential oils, including intensive inhalation and raindrop treatments.
Pre-requisites for the course are:
2 day Chemistry course must be completed.

LDCA - Module 2
This module teaches the intensive use of essential oils and carrier oils both on the skin and also their controlled and informed internal use per os, vagina, and rectum. The module is designed to promote the beneficial use of essential oils, as well as considering possible hazards (internal administration is to be in conjunction with a person qualified to prescribe). Application techniques are taught, including specialised local massage movements, specific reflex points, pessary and suppository manufacture and application, compresses and drenching.
Pre-requisites for the course are:
- A qualification in anatomy and physiology
- An aromatherapy qualification to PPAA standards
- Proof of practice, showing two years minimum experience
The course cost includes a separate day in Pain Management and a separate day in the Use of Hydrolats
Exam
The Licentiate Diploma in Clinical Aromatherapy is awarded after successful completion of 10 full case studies and a 3-hour exam. Successful students will be entitled to wear academic dress appropriate to this level and append the letters LDCA to their name.
