ADCA - Module 1 - Foundation(Reference #ADCA1)

Quantity:

This is the foundation level for all students.(IN-HOUSE) Massage, its benefits and principles, together with the use of essential oils, is taught for general health conditions. The properties and effects of 12 of the most popular essential oils are covered, also the methods of extraction, storage and blending and the use of carrier oils. The history of aromatherapy and massage together with the philosophy of holistic healing is discussed. An introduction to botany, plant cell function and photosynthesis is also incorporated into this module.

The foundation module consists of 5 days in-house training. In addition the student will submit answers to five set questions (normally by essay), an essential oil profile and 1 diagram and the presentation of 10 massages with record cards as taught. The successful student will be entitled to a Certificate of Attendance for this stand-alone introductory foundation module to aromatherapy. Holders of this Certificate may proceed on to the secondary module. 

ADCA - Module 2 - Secondary(Reference #ADCA2)

The student is given a comprehensive appreciation of body analysis to help make an assessment of the needs of clientele. Detailed information is then gathered from the client and used for selecting and blending essential oils for a personal treatment plan. Comprehensive tutoring is given in the choice of the appropriate creams and lotions used in aromatherapy for the treatment of specific skin conditions.

Extended massage principles designed to deal with common ailments and conditions by incorporating specialised massage techniques such as trigger pressure points, neuro-muscular techniques and lymphatic drainage. Contra-indications and precautions are also discussed. Introduction to plant families, essential oil methods of extraction, therapeutic and physical properties of essential oils and their pharmacological effects on the body. The properties and effects of a further 15 essential oils are studied. The merits of several carrier oils are taught and an introduction is given to subjects such as hydrolates, hygiene, health and safety and professional practice management.

The secondary module consists of 5 days in-house training. In addition the student will undertake home study comprising: 5 case studies based on 3 treatments of 5 clients with full documentation and answers to four set questions (normally by essay). These must be successfully submitted before progression to ADCA Tertiary.
 

ADCA - Module 3 - Tertiary(Reference #ADCA3)

Quantity:

The student is taught specific techniques in massage including reflex massage. Information on plant families and essential oils is expanded along with organic chemistry and essential oil components awareness including toxicity. Essential oil purity and safety considerations are discussed and the importance of this is emphasised. Carrier oils are discussed in depth, as are allergy and substance sensitivity, diet deficiency and disease. The properties and effects of a further 12 essential oils are studied. Professional practice management is expanded on.

The tertiary module consists of 5 days in-house training. In addition the student will undertake home study comprising: 2 full body treatments including reflexes, 5 full body massages on 5 clients and summaries of the outcome of treatments. Plus answers to four set questions (normally by essay), and create a carrier oil cross-reference chart. These must be successfully submitted before progression to ADCA Final.
 

ADCA - Module 4 - Final (Reference #ADCA4)

Quantity:

The student is taught in depth the differences between plant medicine and orthodox medicine. Also included is a comprehensive study of common ailments including those arising from care for the elderly, pregnancy and paediatrics, and how essential oils affect these problems. Olfaction and its psychosomatic effects are discussed. The students' knowledge of essential oils is expanded and the properties and effects of a further 12 essential oils are studied. Techniques on neck and shoulder massage and relaxation are included in this module. Rudiments of business and management procedure are taught and cover some of the aspects of starting up and running a successful clinic including the client/therapist relationship.

The final study module consists of 5 days in-house training. In addition the student will undertake home study comprising: 5 neck and shoulder massages plus a summary of the clients medical background. In addition the student will submit answers to five set questions (normally by essay) and provide further additions to the cross-reference chart previously submitted for ADCA Tertiary.

The student is expected to revise both theory and practical work from each module in preparation for the final examination. The ADCA final study module provides a last opportunity for the student to clarify any aspect of their study throughout the four study modules with the tutor 

ADCA - Module 5 - Business Studies, First Aid and Aromatherapy Exam(Reference #ADCA5)

Quantity:

Two days of business studies will help you to set up your own clinic. A first aid day is compulsory for insurance and the final day is a practical exam of 3 hours and a theory exam of 2.5 hours
